SHAkti Bodywork

SHAkti Bodywork is a multi-modal approach to equine myofascial massage — a blend of hands-on bodywork techniques and energy therapies designed to address discomfort, improve movement, and restore balance in your horse.

Sessions are approximately one hour and are performed in a quiet, comfortable space where your horse feels safe. Liberty-based sessions (allowing the horse to move freely) are preferred, as they let the horse communicate what they need and where. Basic saddle evaluations are included with all bodywork sessions.

Modalities Used

Myofascial Massage
RevitaVet LLLT (Laser)
Reiki Energy Healing
Kinesiology Taping (Equi-tape)
Acupressure (TCM)
Photonic Light & Essential Oils
Surefoot Pads (balancing pads)

Benefits of Equine Bodywork

Preventative maintenance and performance support
Alleviates pain and muscular tension
Increases blood flow and oxygen circulation
Lubricates joints and reduces inflammation and swelling
Releases natural endorphins
Stimulates waste and toxin elimination
Reduces post-exercise soreness and recovery time
Basic saddle evaluation included every session

What to Expect

Sessions last approximately one hour. Please have your horse clean and in a quiet, secure location. Arriving 10 minutes early is appreciated. Liberty-based sessions are preferred when your facility allows — this means the horse is loose in a paddock or round pen and free to approach, move away, and communicate their comfort level throughout the session.

Western Saddle Fit Consulting

Proper saddle fit is foundational to your horse’s comfort, movement and long-term soundness. An ill-fitting saddle can create muscle tension, back soreness, behavioral changes and even contribute to kissing spines over time. Shayna provides western saddle fit assessments to help ensure your tack is working with your horse, not against them.

A basic saddle evaluation is included with every SHAkti Bodywork session. Dedicated western saddle fit consultations are also available as a standalone service for clients who want a more in-depth assessment.

What Gets Evaluated

  • Tree width and saddle balance from front to back
  • Panel contact and pressure distribution across the horse’s back
  • Gullet clearance along the spine and withers
  • Cinch position and rigging fit
  • Overall saddle balance and rider position
  • Signs of existing saddle-related muscle tension or compensatory patterns

IMPORTANT NOTE

Shayna is certified in western saddle fitting through Dr. Angelique Barbara (April 2025). This is a saddle fit assessment service — not saddle repair or reflocking. If adjustments are needed, Shayna can advise on appropriate next steps.

SHAkti Nutrition Consulting

Proper nutrition is foundational to every aspect of your horse's health — coat condition, energy, recovery, behavior, and longevity. SHAkti Nutrition takes a holistic, forage-first approach to building a diet plan that is nutritionally complete, financially realistic, and achievable within your specific situation.

Consultations are 60–90 days in length. Shayna is certified through Angels Animals LLC and works to understand your horse's complete picture before making any recommendations.

What Gets Assessed

Living space and environment — pasture, dry lot, stabling
Types of forage currently offered (hay, grass, straw)
Exercise routine and workload
Existing feeding protocols, supplements, and products
Macro and micro nutrient balance and deficiencies

Forage-First Philosophy

SHAkti Nutrition starts with what your horse eats before anything else. Forage — hay and grass — is the cornerstone of equine nutrition. The goal is to build a diet that is rich in quality forage, supplemented thoughtfully where needed, and realistic for your budget and situation. No cookie-cutter programs here. SHAkti incorporates the “less is more” mentality when it comes to nutrition.

Existing bodywork clients only. Nutrition consulting is available as an add-on to bodywork clients. If you're new to SHAkti, start with a bodywork session!

SHAkti Connection

SHAkti Connection (also called SHAkti Connectionship) is a partnership-focused horsemanship service for clients and their horses. These sessions are designed to quiet the human mind, deepen understanding between horse and rider, and help horses that are troubled or shut-down to relax, soften, and re-engage.

Shayna works both in and out of the saddle, focusing on the present moment and the communication happening between horse and human. She specializes in horses of trauma and those who have learned to survive rather than thrive in their relationship with people.

What Connection Sessions Offer

Trauma-informed horsemanship with gentle, trust-based approach
Rebuilding confidence in horses that are shut-down or reactive
Strengthening the human-equine partnership and communication
Work in and out of the saddle based on where you and your horse are
Basic horsemanship skills woven into every session
Present-moment awareness for horse and human alike

Who This Is For

Connection sessions are ideal for horses that are tense, spooky, or shut-down — and for horse owners who want to deepen their relationship beyond riding. Whether you're working through a specific behavioral challenge, rebuilding trust after a difficult experience, or simply wanting to be more present with your horse, these sessions meet you where you are.
